So I have been advised to contact housing prior to my arrival nearing the end of this month. I have tried the Yokosuka@housing.navy.mil address but it was returned to me. Does anyone know how I can get ahold of them so I can tell them of my arrival and get put on the waiting list?

Thanks Adam! I was looking for an e-mail just because I didn't want to do international calling, I am still in Nevada right now. How do I international call those numbers? I will go get a calling card since I think over the telephone will probably be my best bet.

Is it best to contact housing before getting to Japan? I ask, since we are due there in about 30 days and have not been told this yet.

That is what my husband was told before he went to school, that you can't get on the waiting list till you get to Japan and go through the classes.
That's why I am wondering what the purpose of e-mailing them would be.

It's true you can't actually go on a wait list until after you arrive. From personal experience it was worth contacting them as they provided some good information that really helped. Plus they put you in contact with the counselor that you will be working with. Ours turned out to be a great help.

Yes, I couldn't get on the waiting list until I got here, but it was nice to have my counselor let me know what I needed in order to be put on the list when I got here.
