Anyone discovered a method for keeping these things at bay?

Housing will come spray around the perimeter of your unit if you ask them.  But that isn't 100% effective.  They come down the vent tubes from the top of the units and then drop out of your bathroom vents.  Installing some standard window screen material inside the vent's faceplate slows them down, but they still manage in through windows or whatnot.

I figure, "hey, it's nature" so they're after something.  We keep the house as spotless as possible, but I'm curious as to what they're after, so we can eliminate it (and them).

I've already been stung twice since living here, and they really seem to prefer my daughter's room, so I'm contending with that (she's 5).

If anyone's got any tips or tricks, I'm all ears.

I have serious arachnophobia, I really do. Oddly enough, the furry geige geige things don't bug me too much (even though they bite and it hurts, I've been told!). Are those what you are talking about? The furry things, or the long nasty armored things? I hope it's the former. The latter kinda scares me, as I saw the Japanese insect battles on YouTube and I saw what those scaly armored things can do.

Sorry I can't help you, but I hope you find a way to stave the invasion. I googled THINGS THAT EAT CENTIPEDES. The results? pretty weird critters. The enemy of my enemy kinda thing.

Good luck with the battle. I wish you well, manfam.

Yeah, I mean the black armored kind. They've got a potent little sting to 'em.

Not enough to send you to the ER, despite the urban legend. But enough to let you know you got stung.
