Does anyone know how much it costs per minute to call a number in the US from a DSN phone? We just got our Vonage phone shut off.
Also, does it cost the person we call anything or does it cost them nothing since I am calling them?
    Thanks in advance.

What do you mean your Vonage was shut off? Someone disconnected it, or you just canceled the service?

Your next best bet is probably skype which you can sign up for online, put down at $10 deposit and make hours of calls for that amount on your phone. By "DSN phone", do you just mean an on base phone? Calling the states by DSN is free, but if you're calling commercial from an on base phone, sorry I can't help you. DSN refers to the calling network, not the phone itself.

We cancelled our Vonage phone because we are moving back to the US next week. Yes, when I say DSN phone I mean on base phone, thats what I refer to it as, thats what I've always been told it was called.

I am not exactly sure, but it is maybe 10 cents a minute? No more than that. I have skype, but occasionally through out the month call my mom for a half hour at a time and it has never added more than $10 to my bill.

Just for future reference, no need to cancel Vonage just cuz you're moving home. In fact, I had Vonage for 6 years in San Diego; it was far cheaper than the local phone company and every time I moved I could take my phone number with me, even when moving to a new area code. It emails my voice messages to my cell phone; AT&T doesn't do that. Fire your phone company! Go VOIP!!

Yeah we are cancelling it because we dont plan on getting a house phone when we move back, otherwise we would keep it. I have a cousin who lives in the Middle East and I believe she uses that Magic Jack, apparently its only $20 a year.
