Easy one. It's when you remember words in Japanese and not in English.

1.) You go back to the states on leave or to visit and make a left turn into oncoming traffic and wonder why they are on the wrong side of the road.
2.) You're back in the states and the bar tender calls "last call". Panicking, you rush outside to find the sun is not up and it's only 1 a.m.
3.) You go to a restaurant in the states and wonder why the hostess didn't ask you if you wanted smoking or non-smoking.
4.) You go to a freinds house in the states, take off your shoes at the door and wonder why everyone looks at you funny.
5.) You put in a Consecutive Overseas Tour package and the Admiral writes a note on it stating that "The member has been OCONUS entirely too long, the member could benifit from a Stateside tour.", the detailer ignores the note and cuts you orders back to a Japan based unit.
6.) The "Apple" test is no longer a factor when asking a girl out.
7.) You get culture shock visiting your family in the states.
8.) You have no idea what TV shows are popular back in the states....and don't really care.
9.) You habitually search for the nearest 7-11, Familymart, Lawsons, or Sun-Kus on every corner when driving in the states in order to determine your location instead of using street names.
10.) After living out in the Japan economy you forget how to cook with an oven....and it doesn't matter.
11.) You search desperately in the states for "Good " Japanese food but as time goes by your standards drop in desperation.

When a commercial is on tv and says something like "Thursday 8pm", I automatically think "ok, Friday".
I nod my head a lot.

When you are on a port visit and start looking online for a sushi place in the area so you can say how much better Japanese sushi is....

When you say "hi" as in "yes" to every person that you talk to in every port....

    LOVE IT! AZ awesome!

I also want to add that you've been here too long when...

You can hum the garbage truck jingle...

When you bow after meeting someone vs shaking their hand...

You prefer Green Tea over soda...

When your baby's first words are Japanese (and you aren't!)...

You say words like "dozo", "arigatou", "sumimasen" to your american friends...

you idea of fast food comes with real silverware (Love the fastfood places here!)

when you see recieve a medium sized drink on base and you say "I'm sorry I didn't ask for a large size"

    ....

    hmm...I'll think of more!
To enjoy Japan you gotta go out and experience it! Need a buddy, msg me!

    12). You dream in Japanese...

13). ...and this isn't that odd, because it genuinely is your second language.

14). You find most clerks at US stores to be terribly rude and unconcerned about you as a customer.

15). You think ever US public bathroom is atrocious.

16). You call THAT sushi? It's not.

17). You cringe when people say Care-ee-oh-kee instead of ka-ra-o-ke or typhoon instead of taifu... etc. And you can't stand the way new arrivals mispronounce Yokosuka or the other base names.

18). You wonder why gas stations and convenience stores are put together and not separate stores.

19). You wander into a 7-11 looking for onigiri.

20). You constantly mess up your turn signals and your wipers.

21). You frequently begin or end sentences with Japanese, even though the bulk of your conversation may be in English.

22). You answer the phone with Moshi-Moshi.

23). You say "Yokai" instead of "Aye, Aye" and refer to your CO as "Kaicho."
