I want to play it- just for the experience. But I have no idea how to do it and I'm afraid to go in there alone and look like a fool. On a side note, a lady I know says she refuses to set foot in Pachinko parlors "because they're all owned by North Korea".

Tell her that they've only been outsourced to the Beloved Leader.  The yakuza still take the largest cut so most of the money stays in Japan, so it's okay.

(I really have no idea what I'm talking about.)

I heard the game is relatively simple but it takes a steady hand and a lot of time to find the sweet spot to consistantly win. Aside fromt he cigarette smoke I'm sure I'd get addicted to it.

"because they're all owned by North Korea".
not only North Korean.   both North and South .
Zainichi korean (korean living in Japan who has both Japanese and korean name)

but I don't think Pachinko parlor in Yokosuka was run  by Korean

Pachinko is very hard to win
Japanese slot machine (pachi-slo) is easier to play and win .

Bilingal gaijin Tom teach you how to play Pachi-slo "Bon Jovi"
