I will be moving to the Yokosuka area and was wondering if retirees are allowed to shop at the NEX facilities and Commissary.  I recently found out that retirees in Germany do not have the priveledges because of the SOFA agreement(s)...just wondering if the same is true in Japan as well.  Thanks in advance!

In Yokosuka, no problem.  In fact, I think you're good throughout Japan.  So how is it, as a retiree, that you're moving here? Just curious.

    Thanks for the answer!
My girlfriend is stationed there so I will hang out with her until she PCS's next year. I will retire from AD here in a few months and then head over.

What are the current rules concerning non-SOFA retiree use of the Package Store, Bank and Post Office?

As far as I know, retirees cannot change money at the banking facility on base, and cannot use the post office. Not sure about the package store, but it's NEX right? So they should be able to use it.

I don't view the bank as a big deal as they give the worst exchange rate on the planet. I get a much better deal just taking cash from the ATM at 7/11.
