Pretty much what I know now is that there are midrises and townhouses.  I would love to see pictures, know about storage space and if what I read about the humidity being easy to mold leather being true.  Unfortunately all of our furniture is leather!
Any info or pictures or links you could send would be great!

yeah the mold thing is true. My husband has this old leather jacket and I have to take leather cleaner and leather protecter wipes to it every other month. But I think as long as you are using and cleaning your furniture you will be fine. Alot of people I know have leather furniture because its easy to clean compared to regular. They don't have to rent a cleaner to clean it, they just use the car wipes for leather seats in a car.

I dunno; I must be doing something right. I know mold is a big problem in Japan, and ppl are always talking about it. Yet, I have not had this problem during my 2 years in Japan. I live in an apartment offbase. We leave our windows open except when it's too hot or too cold. We use A/C when we must, or dehumidifier if it's a little hot. But we don't do anything special otherwise. I'm not sure why we haven't experienced mold but I feel very fortunate.

If you clean your house like Japanese clean, I doubt you would have mold.

Japanese have a tradition at the end of the year cleaning. Its sort of rediculous, and I definitely thought so at first, because I was lazy and didnt want to have to go and clean every single item, screen shutter, window, glass, curtain rod, etc. Everything gets cleaned.

They feel its bad luck going into the next year with dust in your home, so they want to clean it, feeling they have a fresh clean house.

I'm not sure why we haven't experienced mold but I feel very fortunate.
Thaiguy.. Probably because you keep your house clean.
