there will be nice fireworks in zushi beach every summer. Zushi fireworks is famous among Tokyo area
it is much better than Yokosuka's .   if you live in Zushi , must see it !

Yes for all the newly reporting people to Japan that have never had the opportunity to witness Japanese festivals, and firework festivals, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go out and see them. They are amazing, the food is amazing that they sell along the streets, and the fireworks are very cool also.

There is something special they do in Zushi that I have never seen other events do.

They actually sell the fireworks in your name. Right before they launch the firework, they announce a name, or what company around Zushi paid for the firework.

I am going to be working to get JapanBases.com announced during this summers event.

Its 10,000 yen I believe for the firework, so not too much.

I am not sure how you go about it, but I am having my wife research it with the Zushi City Hall.

Its a great way to get engaged, or to sell someone you love them. I remember last year, there were all types of announcements.

Also, make sure you get there about 3-4 hours prior and just relax on the beach, so you can get a good seat. Just prepare a blanket, beer, and some snacks and just go lay out on the beach. Its very very crowded this night. Get there early, so you dont have to worry to find a good seat, and have to end up standing the whole time.

When is this done? The novelity of fireworks kinda worn off with us living in Sasebo right next the Huis Ten Bosch....but it's been a few months so we kinda miss them.

Date; August 26th , Thursday, 2010
Time; 7:15pm- 8:00pm

The beach is so packed with people every year.
So I recommend to be there 2 or 3 hours before to get your spot.
If you wanna relax or have romantic time, it might be good idea to reserve the restaurant along the Zushi beach on fireworks day. They usually have a special menu for fireworks but I feel it is a little bit pricey though...
I remember when I called the restaurant along the beach last year, it was 5,000yen for buffet.
So we decided to go there early last year and we could get a good spot which was good ehough for us.

Yes I think so. It was sooooo packed! We got there and we couldn't find a seat.

So we had to pay to sit down.

It was \2000 yen a person, but we were in really great seats. It was comfortable, so I was happy sitting where we did.

I saw yoko-girl. They looked like they were having a lot of fun.

I don't know how many was total, but it was a very impressive display.

I was able to see some of the show from a friend's roof top deck in Zushi. Most of the show I was stuck inside with my daughter who is afraid of the noise, but love the light. We could only see a small section of the fireworks from inside.

great fireworks show!!

W/out a doubt, that was one of the best  (if not the best) firework displays that I've seen in my life!    I don't normally go goo-goo-ga-ga for fireworks, but they put on a great show last night! 

We got there around 2:30 to reserve a spot on the beach.  It was already starting to get crowded by then.  We managed to find a decent spot, but the tide was really high and we kept having to inch backwards, folding our tarp in half.  By dusk, we were building a trench in front of our tarp to protect all our stuff!  It was a full moon last night causing big waves and high tide.  We won the battle though, and the tide finally started to recede.    W/out the trench, we would have been washed away (or on top of the poor people behind us!).  It was all in good fun.

The beach really got packed by the time the fireworks started.  A bunch of us decided to just watch the fireworks in the ocean....the water was soooo warm (and no, I didn't pee in the water - although, I wish a could have because the line to the bathroom was ridiculous!). 

We'll definitely go out there again next year.  Hopefully, it won't be so hot next year.  Hauling all our crap out there on the train wasn't any fun in the heat.

I knew by Yokosuka website that Yokosuka fireworks was total 10,000 fireworks. but it is hard to believe

i did like lastyear's too.  but this year's was much better

i arrived the beach before 30min the show starts ,  so I felt that time goes by so fast
next year, I m going to be there before couple of hours the show starts   then having fun until the show starts 

if  JB members will see the fireworks together,  I will save huge area of the beach for seat   lol

I just asked Yuko, and she said last year when JapanBases.com advertised with Zushi City, they told her that a MAJOR investor of the fireworks was going to stop advertising the following year for 2011.  This was the last year in 2010 that they were donating the $.  Thats why Zushi would always have a fantastic showcase, because they would get a lot of $ from them each year.

How sad!!! I was really looking forward to fireworks on the beach this summer, since CFAY isn't having the 4th of July fireworks.

Atsugi will be having their fireworks as usual. Expect larger than usual crowds due to the fact they are the only base hosting them. Their Facebook page has more details.

just do your own fireworks on the beach! its more fun and they sell them out in town everywhere..
