Okay I have been hearing alot of people complain about the mold problem here in Japan. And I think I may have found a solution. I personally have a really bad problem with my airconditioners/heaters. I pay for them to be cleaned out twice a year once in the begining of spring and once at the begingin of the cold snap here in Okinawa. It's really expensive to  have them cleaned out but I turn them on for the summer heat and they are gross black on the inside with mold. Same goes for when I turn them off for the cold months.

Now a friend told me that you run it every other day to allow them to dry out. That didnt work it made the mold grow faster. I have tried wiping them out with bleach every so often and cleaning out their filters. It doesnt stop the mold from growing it just keeps comming. So I mentioned it to one of my japanesse friends and she laughed at me. Apparntly they have a mold spray. She called it Kabi Killer. She was even nice enuff to bring me a bottle. So I started a test back in Feb when I had my units cleaned out professionally. The Unit in the living room I sprayed with the Kabi Killer. All the other units I used as controlls they got no spray. Now it's almost May so I think I can tell everyone that it works. OMG it works. My living room Unit is clean all the others are growing stuff. I use my living room unit and bedroom unit about the same. Those are the two rooms that must be comfortable for me. All the other units Ill leave off and open a window until it gets deathly hot.

So the way it works is your supposed to spray it on the problem area and leave it for a few hours to over night. Then just wipe away. Now I have some american friends that say the stuff in the bigger spay bottles has a very strong sent. That you need to either dilute it (and some say half and half some say 1 part solution to 10 parts water) or open the windows. My japanesse friend gave me a funny looking bottle of the stuff and it doesnt smell. It has no sent that I can detect. My bottle comes in package kinda and it has pictures of tatomi matts, an airconditoner ect on it. I was also told to just spray it in or on where ever the mold grows. Leave it for a few hours and then wipe it clean. Then to spray mist it again and leave it to help keep the mold from growing. I can't read the actual directions because it's in kanji so if anyone has a translated version of the directions please let me know. I am posting before and after pics on my profile and what the bottle looks like. Not one word of the whole thing is in english.

I know how you feel I thought I was going crazy trying to stop the mold. Also I tried it in this one corner of my bathtub and I checked it after two weeks today there is nothing there.

This is the one my friend gave me with out the smell. Im not sure if its just not as strong as the others or what. They come in all differnt types of bottles but the red oval logo name is always the same.

Wow. No mold in the tub.... what a concept! lol I use the (Lysol?) after shower spray and I squeegie. I guess it helps.. slows things down. If this stuff works I will be so happy! Thanks again!
