    Hi There!
I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a Japanese spouse's club or anything similar in or near Yokosuka?

I am gearing up to be deployed soon and was hoping to find a stable network of Japanese spouses my wife could connect with.  I know she would really like to interact with others who have been through similar situations.

We greatly appreciate anyone's help on this.  Thanks!

     - Hanako

P.S.  I didn't choose this screename, my wife thinks it's hilarious...

Yes they do have a spouses group usually on every military base.

What base are you going to?

    Yokosuka...I'm actually on the G.W.

We were contacted by the spouse's group for the ship, but my wife was a little apprehensive as they were all American spouses.  They were really nice but I know my wife would be more likely to be involved if she meet some Japanese spouses first.

    I would recommend you visit:

    http://www.gwfrg.com

They may have a list of Japanese spouses that are in their group.

I agree, it would be easier for your wife if she had some new friends.

I was also able to find a Japanese Spouses group which is held through the FFSC Yoksouka office.

It looks like they meet twice a month. 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

    Look below at the PDF's..

Check in the "Life Skills Workshops" section. (some months they dont look like they have classes, but most months they do.

Good Luck with everything.  Hope she can find some great friends soon..

    Konnichiwa,Yokosukahanako

I am a Japanese and live on Yokosuka Base.

I bet to GW has a loooot of Japanese spouses but I guess they don't want to attend
to wife meetings or Ombudsman's news letter .

I wish to my husband's ship has wife meetings or potluck party for get chance to meet
    other spouses.but never happend. : (

I have been to Japanese Spouse Group by FFSC once and met about 10 to 15 Japanese
    sousese there.
We talked about Military life,Kids,PCS,Cooking,Money,Hospital,School and anything you want.
If you had children,You can bring them. Most of spouses bring their children to the class.
I brought my 2 children there.

If you were new to Yokosuka Base and want to make new Japanese friends ,I recommend to
    go there.

If you had more question ,feel free to contact me.I am happy to answer . : )

I would be happy if there were meetings for the wives of sailors on the ship...regardless of nationality, being new to the area offers a whole slew of shyness...i would like to have a japanese friend but don't know any and the one I do know is moving next month. I have a very good japanese friend in Sasebo but doesn't help me up here.
there's the frg that offers meetings once a month but i haven't been to one yet...

I don't know of any other things other than the FRG's. But my experience with the FRG's is that they are already pretty closed knit. It's hard to get into it. But I bet if you are determined to make a friend you will.

Oh and I've also meet people through COMPASS and AOB/ICR. Find someone who looks as shy as you and then talk to them. I'm sure they would appreciate it very much!

To enjoy Japan you gotta go out and experience it! Need a buddy, msg me!
