Q: I had a great time during this year’s Friendship Day. But my main gripe is that I think there were not enough toilets for women. The lines to the toilets overflowed out the doors at McDonalds, the Bowling Alley and Main Street (food court). When I went to the Navy Exchange restroom I overheard some ladies say out of sheer desperation they snuck in their Japanese friends to use the restroom. Next year will you please have more and clean toilets available for us? A: Thank you for your feedback. Typically for major open-base events NAVFACFE contracts to have between 30 and 70 additional porta-johns available, and Friendship Day 2007 was no exception. My staff was observing the event all day, and for most of the day the lines and waits at the porta-johns were relatively short. We understand that some customers prefer to use regular bathrooms in buildings however, force protection issues require us to limit the areas of the base open to the public during these events.
