A outing destination suggestion for flower lovers.

There is a large beautiful poppy field at Kurihama. While poppies are just started to bloom, field mustards (yellow small flowers) are in full bloom. Poppies will be in full bloom late April and lasts late May or beginning of June.

Park's web site isn't informational for English speakers, but has some recent flower pictures from which you can understand how flowers are blooming now.

The park has also a blog. This is also only in Japanese, but has a lot of pictures.

The Kurihama Flower Park is about 1km south from Keikyu/JR Kurihama station. They have parking, but often be full in early morning in this season, so you may have to wait for parking.

They also has a Japanese style seafood restaurant, a soft cream stand (you don't know "soft cream?" - that is a kind of ice cream. I don't think it is a Japanese origin, but I often see them in many Japanese tourist places, but hardly see in other countries.), "Flower train" ride, out field playing equipments for kids (one of them is the Godzilla's slider.) so the place is nice for families with kids.

I've been there in 2008 and enjoyed very much:
