Adam added a new category to the Pictures area of the site with subcategories for each housing base and size.  Please help build this area for people moving to Japan.  If you haven't moved into your new place yet, PLEASE take photos and post as well as adding photos after you move in.  Thanks.

Can someone post some current Yokota ones? I've sen the ones that that they have on their AF Portal page but those pages are famous for being old/outdated.  Can someone tell me if there are other base housing areas apply for the Yokota installation or am I stuck for Yokota specific base housing?

It would also be great if when someone post pics in the albums, they would post a notice on the wall stating something like "6 pics posted in Yokota" then those of us looking will know to go check it out. Thanks to all that help.

The idea is to create a centralized location for everyone that is currently living in Japan to post their pictures so newly reporting personnel can see first hand how it will look and what to expect.

I ask all JB MEMBERS to please take photos of your home.

I have added the types of homes for several of the bases. Some of the bases that I dont have sub-albums for, I dont know what style/house types they have on that base. If you can provide me a list, I will create all those sub-albums so JB members can post their photos.

It will take some time to get them all populated, but I really think its a great idea.

I will also be creating a FRONT INTERFACE to each housing property, and it will have all the characteristics for each location, and then you will click a link for more pictures, and it will go directly to that album of photos for that property type.

So big picture, its going to be great in the long run, just needs a little help getting it going.

Adam, could you create a trigger that would post a notice on the wall when new pictures are loaded and in which album. I go back and check periodically to see if new pics are in but if you aren't keeping up with the number of pics in the specific albums theres no way to know if anything new is there. Thanks

Basically whats going to happen on the HOUSING SECTION I am currently building is you will have an OFFBASE section, which will list all the housing agencies, and each housing agency will be putting all their available homes for rent.

I will also have a ONBASE housing section, which will have a detail description page on each of the different style homes offered on each base throughout Japan.

I am even developing a system which will interface with a HOUSING MODULE I am developing for the housing managers ONBASE so they can accurately display what homes are available, how many are available, and when what is the expected wait time for each style home on their bases.

I have not gotten this OKAY'd by the bases, but I am working closely with several people to work this into action, and get them onboard with a new system like this. If you think about it, its going to ultimately HELP EVERY REPORTING MEMBER coming to Japan, which is my entire goal for the website.

If they are not interested, I will still keep some of the pieces of the module in place, and our office here in yokosuka will update it for them. I just see it being a truly helpful tool to be able to come to 1 centralized place, see all the details about each property onbase and off, and be able to choose what path is the best for each family type.

The plan with the description for each onbase home, there will be a link back to each of those albums that I have already created, that people have started to upload. So on each description base there will be about 8 pictures, just to give someone a brief description, but it will also have a link that says, CLICK HERE FOR MORE PICTURES OF THIS UNIT, and there people can see all the JB MEMBER UPLOADED photos, etc..

I will also try to do a 3d video tour of each property, which we will later work with the housing office to see if we can schedule a time when they have an empty unit to shoot a video. That way, the video will be added to each of the onbase homes providing people a REAL LIVE TOUR of the property to see first hand what to expect, the sizes of the kitchen, bathrooms, etc.. Pictures sometimes dont tell the whole story, and I feel having the pictures and a video tour would just be the best way to provide an excellent resource.

Anyhow, sorry I didnt get back to you sooner. I did see you asking me a few days, I just got caught up with so much stuff. Trust me. I think this is just the beginning for the housing section, and we will continue to improve the ideas, and the production for how we can help the base housing offices manage their customers easier.

I kept my promise, and just loaded a BUNCH of pictures of my 4 bedroom house on Ikego...the furniture in the pics are loaner furniture, so you can have an idea of what to expect from that too. It's a lot bigger in person than it looks in the photos. I haven't gotten a measuring tape yet, so can't give you dementions yet either! Just waiting on Adam's approval!

Just so people know, all pictures that you post, go into a REVIEW state first, where picture administrators will be able to approve them.

We will do this for 2 reasons.

1) To make sure pictures get posted to the correct albums.
2) To ensure people dont post inappropriate pictures, porn, death, etc.. Which may offend someone.

When your pictures are approved or denied, you will receive a confirmation email to your email on file.

I will still be building the housing list onbase, and use the layout information/info for each onbase unit. There will be a graphic that says, PLEASE UPLOAD YOUR PICTURES FOR THIS SIMILAR UNIT, which will take them to the pictures section to add additional images.

I am focusing to finish the restaurant section right now, but if anyone adds any additional pictures, I will let you all know.

Hi Lisa, I've been told that the space in the master bedroom in the 4 bdrm TH is pretty small. I also have a king. It's my understanding that you'll have room for it but only that and a dresser and no floor space. Hope that helps.

Yokosuka Bldg 4359 3-BR Townhouse

This was my favorite resource, in regards to moving to Japan last month. I'm glad that I could do something to say thanks!!!

The O4-O5 housing is the same as O1-O3 which is also pretty much the same as the enlisted 4 bedrooms. So I think there are pictures of those posted already, all the townhomes can have some variations but pretty much are standard. The only difference is when you are O6 you move into Senior Officer Quaters and those are random layouts.

Missyrn - thank you so much.  I had no idea.  We still have 8 months before we pack up to move to Yokosuka but I am trying to get some idea of what we are bringing and what we will have to put in storage here.   We also have a king size bed and I need to know if I can bring it or if I need to buy a queen to fit in the master bedroom. 
There are no pictures of 4 br townhouses on Yokosuka in the picture albums.  Are they the same as the 4 br townhouses at Ikego and Negishi?

Hi, does anyone know if they have lights already installed in the rooms/bedrooms of base or off base housing, or do I need to bring floor lamps? The old housing here did not come with lighting. Just wondering, thanks.

Depends on where you're going. Here in Sasebo, the tower apartments have lights in the bedrooms. Lots of lights. The old townhouses do not have lights, but I'm uncertain of the new townhouses.

i live off base and all our lights was installed. they even have replacement for them ready in the closet.

Are there pictures to see the inside of Camp Zama high rise apartments?. And also pictures of Sagamihara Housing Area inside and outside of the housing. When I click on the Sagamihara picture link there are no pictures available. Me and my spouse are going to be stationed in Camp Zama next month. And how many bedroom would be available it's just me and him for now.
