    Hi!!
We have orders to Misawa and have to be there May 10th.
We have a 60 lb pit bull that we will be bringing with us. Ive already started the chipping, the shots and the FAVN which is still in the mail after having it done 3 weeks ago. My next question is what next????
    1. Can he have the max size kennel even thought he is only 60-64 lbs? We want to use it as his "safe place when we arrive" and he has his own place to go in.
    2. Where are these documents that i need to download, early notification ect
I might need to have my hand held through this so please only absolutely knowledgable people respond. I appreciate all of the help but outdated information seems useless to me and it will only confuse me. Not trying to be rude just need serious and accurate info.

We started this process the minute we got orders but our orders have been changed 3 times. We were originally to be there in Aug then it changed to July and now May and the most recent last week before the orders was cut went from May 15 to May 10. The reasoning is because my hubby is taking over 1 st shirt duty while the other one deploys.

Ive never been overseas let alone a long flight like this. The only flight i have been on was for 3 hours. Am i nervous? YES i am scared to death and i have been reading horro stories about kennels being dropped, and lost you name it i have heard it. This is why i am only asking for only accurate info. Again please understand that i am not trying to be rude, just trying to avoid alot of confusion for myself.

It seems all the info i am finding online is outdated or contradicts another website.

    Thank you so much
    Tammy

Have you read through this website? Japan is 1 rule when it deals with bringing pets into the country. It doesn't matter what base you end up on. Each base may have different rules when it deals with quarantine, but you can find a great deal of info in the PETS IN JAPAN category. Just read through some of the previous stories.

Your best bet is to contact your airline carrier about kennel sizes. Each airline is different, so once you know which airline you are flying w/, call 'em and find out exactly what their requirements are.

This is the 40 day notification form:

    http://www.maff.go.jp/aqs/english/a...on-dog.pdf

You will need to send this out immediately since you are leaving soon.

It's a long flight to Japan, so bring a good eye mask, ear plugs, and a small blanket that can double as a pillow. I also recommend sleeping pills to help you sleep on the journey over here.

Most of the info in the "pets" section on Japanbases is recent, so you shouldn't worry too much about it being "outdated." I went through the whole process myself less than a year ago, so I know exactly what you are going through. Try not to stress (I know....easier said than done). Good luck with your trip over! Japan is a great country! You're in for a treat!

    Good luck with your move!

Yoko linked the 40 Day notification- be prepared for them to come back with a reply that you have not given 40 day notice and your pet will have to fly on a later date. I'm not sure if they will be flexible and still allow your dog to fly. You can email them at na-k1@aqs.maff.go.jp

Are you waiting for FAVN test to get to the lab or the results returned to you?? I hope you're just waiting for the results!
