What do you do when someone on the train falls asleep and uses your shoulder as a pillow?
Stay where you are - It doesn't bother you (9)
     53%
Shrug your shoulder so he or she wakes up (6)
     35%
Cough or make a loud noise to wake the person up (1)
     6%
Move to another seat on the train (1)
     6%

Don't these people get any sleep at home?!  Is there something in the water?!   And, how do they always know when it's their stop?   I'm completely baffled...

What amazes me is the people who fall asleep standing up lol. I can hardly stay upright hanging on and awake half the time! The guy on the floor has me cracking up though!!

I always get tired when I ride the train. I think it's a combo of the swaying/pressure that does it. I have a hard time keeping my eyes open. It's pretty funny to see what happens when others fall asleep!

Maybe they have a long workday and sleep when they can..maybe like a twilight sleep where they know what's going on.

Yeah, I guess the seat got uncomfortable and the floor looked more inviting! What makes it so funny is that he's still in his business suit. You see people like that in the states, but they are usually in regular clothes, so we just think they are some kind of bum on the street!

When you take the early morning trains on Saturday and Sunday, there seem to be people laying all over the place. The Yamanote line is the worst. Even at my most inebriated state, I've never been able to sleep on the train.

I was gonna say "They're faking it" until I saw the pix. Those people don't look fake.

Jenna.....ah yes, the good 'ol days riding the train home on a Sunday morning from Tokyo!  I've fallen fast asleep and woke up, realizing I missed my stop.    I was a good hour away!

Because they can. Two-to-three-hour commutes. If ya do it enough you just get used to it. If I ain't sleeping I'm at least dozing. The human body has an internal clock that wakes them up after the appointed travel time has elapsed. If you can't sleep on the train when you're drunk either the ride's too short or you ain't drunk enough! Believe me, if you have to ride the train every day you WILL learn to sleep for at least a portion of the trip.

Yokogirl, those pictures are too funny.

Gbeck, I guess I'm just a strange person. I'm not able to sleep while moving, which makes long distance travel miserable.

Jenna:  yer young yet, you'll get over it.  I have a hard time sleeping on planes.  I usually fall asleep reading before takeoff which qualifies as power nap.  That leads to staying awake for another six hours.  On a train, though, different.

Bet ya don't have a waterbed.

I'm the same way, Jenna. Can't sleep on a plane or in the car. Cross country moves are super-fun, since I can't sleep while my husband's driving, and then when it's my turn, I need someone to keep me awake.

I know I will doze off on the train now from time to time. Or at least just rest my eyes.

I really don't know how they do it but it is possible. I know this from experience. Took the train home from climbing Fuji and I was out like a light. Woke up and was like is this my stop? then ran off the train!

I've never taken the 'mornin' train back from Tokyo but I've heard stories XD
WARNING: I will say something that offends you at some point, deal with it.

Lol! Those pics are awesome! I've dozed off once on the train and regretted it!When I woke up, I wasn't past my stop. In fact, I had only been on the train for maybe 30 minutes and just hopped off when I still had an hour to go!

I've pulled one of those moves before.... coming back from a night in Roppongi, no less. I still can't explain how I somehow opened my eyes and realized I was at Yokosuka-Chuo.
Warning: Eventually, I WILL say something that offends you. This is perfectly normal. My recommendation: get over it.
