They can help you arrange for the payment for your rent, electric, phone, water, gas and more.

What are your thoughts about G.I. Bill Pay company?  Are they expensive, have you ever had any problems?  Do they take the money out of your account ontime?  Are there any hidden fees?

GI Bill Pay in Sasebo is a great service. The fee is reasonable - and at the end of one year, all I did was pick up my paperwork and submit for reconciliation. All documents were organized and the spreadsheet was completely filled out for the year.

I've used them here in Yokosuka since October and have no complaints. Some people say that they don't want to pay the fees and just pay their own bills. I don't want to go to NFCU, withdraw travelers' cheques (for a fee), take them to Bank of Yokohama and exchange them for Yen (for another fee), and then go pay my bills! To me, that's wasting my time. Not to mention that they provide me "peace of mind", since I never have to worry about being late if I'm not here to take care of them.

I never paid more than $8.50/month. Depends on how many bills you want paid each month.

    Bumping this thread.

Do you use this service? Is it a good deal? My husband will be gone a lot and i will be working full time plus days underway, so making everyday easier is a big plus. I don't mind paying to save time. What banks do they work with? We have a bank here, but i was planning on switching to USAA. Do i need NFCU? I'd prefer to not use them (although I maintain an account just because.)

@Thai - exchange rate is comprable (IMO) to Community Bank. From what I've noticed on my statements, it usually around .1 or .2 from CB's listed rates (if CB show 76.4, my transaction will show in the range of 76.1 to 76.3).

@Dixie - I'm fairly certain they'll work with any bank since they use an ACH to do the transactions. Personally, I have my housing allowance allotted to NFCU (since it's here locally) and that's where GIBP pull from. The rest of my money goes to USAA.
