Husband got orders to PCS to Japan but I have a GS Job..

What should she do?  I received this email from a fan of the website.  They are not a member yet, but asked me to post it.

Ok, probably another dumb question, but...what do you mean by GS Job? Couple of things I can think of that would fit the abreviation, but hate to assume.

LOL! I'm assuming government service job...a great position as usually once you are in that system, you are pretty much in for life. =)
There are quite a few GS positions available. Possibly check the national website for any stateside hire positions in the area. But true...need more info. What do they do now?

The link above will take you to all GS positions in the Yokosuka area. Seems that 3 slipped in from Sasebo, but there are 9 out there as of this moment. =)

A GS job is what everyone wants and never lets go of, lol. (Usually an ideal Government job, 'specially higher the "number" you are.)

But srsly, once you get in the system, it's a good thing. As a MWR Flex I aspire to be there one day, lol.

If she is currently in a GS status the base has 1 year to offer her a job either 1 up or 1 down. That being said if there are no GS jobs available she will just have to release her GS status. It is a gamble she has to be willing to take.

Why not take some LWOP so that the year counter starts after that. Depending on the agency, and if they have anything locally, she could take a buttload of LWOP....

She is eligible to enroll in the Priority Placement Program, I believe.
