    RULES FOR THIS THREAD:
This topic will be pinned, and will be on an ongoing discussion for Sasebo Base only.
Please write down anything you feel that should be looked into by the Sasebo Base Commanders.
This is your opportunity to address outstanding issues, and suggestions towards things that need a second look...
This is not a COMPLAINT section.  Please state the problem and what you recommend that needs to be done to fix the problem.  I always feel if your going to complain about something, atleast have the facts in order to provide a solution.
So when you create your posts, please do so in this order.

    Problem:
    Solution:

** Comments about others problems/solutions may be allowed but please keep your comments professional. **

We need this to remain a professional thread so the base commander can read it and stay informed from the community about outstanding issues.  It does not need to be just a RANT session.  If anything begins to just go on and on, I will remove the posts.  If you want to complain about 1 specific topic, you can do so by creating a brand new post in the RANT ABOUT SOMETHING section.

Not really a rant but there is a problem that is certainly starting to fester and I am not for sure if anything can be done about it.  The following message it purely from eye witness.

The shopping carts are becoming an increasing problem.  Everyday I find shopping carts strewn about the base, mostly in the BEQ area.  Carts that are just left out in the rain and then sustain considerable rust damage to the point where you need a tetnis shot just to use them.  I know its a privilege to move your groceries in them with the understanding of returning them but this is something thats been abused over and over again.  Its only a matter of time before someones vehicle gets damaged because SN Jack/Jill decided to leave the cart abandoned after their grocery shopping adventure in the open and the wind or some other force of nature moves it.

A sign is not going to stop people from doing something wrong.  This is something that needs to be physically enforced and stopped.  Its sad when I see the TPD truck going around and sailors picking up carts to ferry back to the respected places because fellow shipmates are just too damned knuckleheaded to return it on their own.

Instead of placing blame on the junior Sailors, a better solution to the abandoned shopping carts would be for the NEX and DECA to provide a shuttle service every 30 mins after military working hours to the BQ's in Sasebo and Navy Lodge.Heck, a fee of $1 or 2 would suffice for the time and fuel it would consume. Maybe even a cart collection point in the BQ/Navy Lodge areas so the NEX could collect them the next morning. A majority of the Sailors residing in the BQ's don't exactly have a choice where they live and aren't allowed to have vehicles so, maybe the NEX could spring a few bucks out of their massive profits and actually support troops rather than fleecing them all of the time.

I'm sure anyone in the same situation wouldn't want to push an empty shopping cart 1/2 mile back to the store in the rain after a hard day of work. How about offering a solution or two instead of bashing our young Sailors and oh yeah, Families living in the Navy Lodge which is quite a distance from the stores.

I just PCSed in Janurary 2011 and went on float. I recently returned and have been dealing with pay issues from PSD that been trying to take care of since Jan. I have never had so many PSD issues as I have had here at Sasebo. My admin people say that YN's there at PSD said pay would be in my account by a certain date and I am still without the pay(going on 6 moths of back pay). Also still having Comrats taken out a month and a half after being back in port. I don't know what the solution is or even that the right people are made aware of the ongoing problems but something needs to happen. I have heard from many people that PSD here always messes up but that is no excuse. PSD at Pearl Harbor....AWESOME, PSD at 32nd ST....AWESOME, PSD at Camp Pendleton....AWESOME and PSD at Sasebo......?

The Story of the Cho: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
Advice for Off-Base Non Military Housing

I've been living in my apartment since March.  I love the view, I love how roomy it is, hell I even love the garage keeper when I greet him in the afternoons to park my car in the big wheel garage next to the building.  The problem......the internet.

I recently talked with GODO, NTT, GIBILLPAY, etc about the issue, the internet is just too slow.  Its a 48mb plan but I'm only getting 4mb.....maybe 5 if that on ADSL.  Which makes for very very horrible gaming, especially for games that are demanding in bandwidth.  I asked to get cable internet but they have to install a seperate line?  I dont know why they cant just run the internet through my cable line thats provided for by the apartment like they did in the states.  What it all finally boils down to is, GODO stated the line or "cable way" was already full and that installation is impossible.

All I wanted was a simple answer, the question being "When are they going to upgrade?  Are you planning to provide an extra cableway so the other floors could benefit from the upgrade?"  This however, was impossible to get and I gave up in utter frustration and my outlook of Japan has become rather...well...less than what it was before...alot less.

An idea for the Cho wall and I am dead serious on this one is the cable service options for each apartment/cho/town house for internet.  Internet is what makes the world turn these days.  It alone gives the power of information at our fingertips, the ability to call home, watch movies, play games etc.  If this option was available it would help in the selection and final leasing of a place of residence instead of going by "word of mouth" by the retailer.  This is what got me in the end, stuck in an apartment that has internet issues when I would have avoided it.  A simple layout like

    Cable Internet: Y/N
    Fiberoptic Internet: Y/N
    ADSL: Y/N
