wonder if how many cars/people that park there have business/working out? or use it as a regular parking spot while they go to work eventhough it says 4hours parking? its just so getting annoying everytime i go there to attend a work out class and there is no spot!

Your right, it does say 4 hour parking. This parking deck has been a problem for over 10+ years. The reason why is there is NO PARKING for the afloat sailors. Imagine all those sailors on the waterfront when there boat is inport, where can they park?

There were times, when I was on the KHK, and it was the only place to find a spot. By 7:30am, every spot in the entire lot was FULL. Were those people using the fleet rec? No! They were everyone going to work. The gripe, should be, WHY IS THERE NO PARKING for more sailors, because that is the source of the problem.

Yes, people could start walking to work, or park farther away, and just walk to where they need to go, but they DON’T. People are lazy, myself included. I enjoy parking close to my destination.

Think about it. Where else can people park other than the FLEET REC when your over that way?

I thought there was a big parking garage across from SRF?

Yeah, but there is no way that holds enough room for people going to work. Think how many people drive on just the GW alone.

Though Adam is right, some of these people really shouldn't be driving to work. I know of a handful that live on base and still drive to work... lazy, lazy. My husband rides his bike and gets home faster than the people who drive.

It seems like parking is always an issue, EVERY single command we've been to.

The SRF parking lot you are talking about gets really full at times as well. I know when I used to work at CPO that our parking lot would be full and not a single person in the club. We all knew that people from ATG were parking there instead of parking half a block down the road. Clearly marked and all. God forbid there was some major training or something similar going on at the Fleet Theater....the SRF parking lot would be packed full, and you couldn't find a single spot open. I believe the 4th floor and above is designated for SRF employees only...yet I still saw some of them parking at lower levels - even when there were still spots available up top.

I know they are cracking down hard on issuing car passes to Japanese employees right now. Anyone working a regular shift where the train/buses are still operating, and are not a very high pay grade have been getting their passes pulled. Not all of them, but some at least. If parking is that big of a problem, I wonder if they won't do the same thing for the american side soon.

I know they do a pretty good job with the bus system, but I feel like they could cover a bit more. There are still a lot of housing areas that aren't very close to a bus stop. If it's raining, they're even less likely to make their way over.

I bet that half the people that park there live within a mile of the base and could walk. That's the real problem, that people don't give a darn about anybody else but themselves and are lazy.
