My husband and I have never lived in base housing before.  When we pcs back to the states, we are most likely leaving on a Tuesday.  Does anyone know when youre supposed to give up your home to go to the lodge? I have heard that they do a home inspection so I dont know if they tell you when to move out or if you can pick the day to move out.  I am assuming that leaving the Friday before we leave would work.  I hope that makes sense.

No, you tell them when you are moving out based on your orders. It depends on when you can schedule your packout of household goods. As soon as you have the orders in hand you need to schedule your packout and then you schedule your inspection after that. I am unsure of how many days you can get reimbursed for in lodging, hopefully someone else will know that.

thanks for the info, we already have our packout dates set so I will look into the inspection part now. I have been told that they only reimburse you for 1 night at the lodge, not sure if thats true but thats something else I plan to look into later on.

If living on base you are only authorized 1 day of TLA to pay for lodging. If living off base you get 11 days of TLA.

You can also get loaner furniture, so you can stay in your house until the days before you leave, so you don't have the out of pocket for the lodge.
