So I'm starting my search early this year since we didn't have great results last year and ended up picking someone that did a crappy job taking care of our doggies.... We will be leaving for the summer, approximately 6 weeks, from mid June to Aug 1st or 2nd. We have 2 dachshunds, one long hair, male, and one short hair, female... I plan on getting the long hair trimmed before leaving so his hair won't be a huge issue for someone. They are both house trained and are VERY good with children. The male is older, he's 9 and doesn't like alot of hugging and picking up. The girl is 2 yrs and doesn't care what you do to her. I don't think they would do well with other dogs, and I'm not sure about cats, they haven't really been around them before. They are both inside dogs and will let you know when they need to go out... they really are our other children and definitely part of the family. So I'm needing someone who will treat them the same. I'd like them to stay at the sitter's home. They are both registered with the vet, spayed/neutered and have all their shots up to date. If you are interested or know of someone interested in taking them for me, I would be very grateful! Thank you!!

My son (16) does some pet sitting now and then for neighbors on YOKOSUKA base, you dont mention where you live, you may get a response if you let folks know where they will be doing the service.

Well the only reason I didn't list my location is because I don't mind taking my dogs out to someone in Ikego or Negishi as long as I've met with them before. That's what we did last summer, unfortunately for me, I don't believe the person did what they said they would do.

We're looking for a home for the dogs to stay in while we're gone, not just have a sitter come check on them once or twice a day.

If you know of anyone, I would appreciate the help!

We live in a tower so no dog transport, my son has done morning and afternoon/evening walks for people in town homes here on base...we are out of town 26June-13 July but other dates for such a service are open.

There are a couple ads in the classifieds section for pet sitters. One in Ikego and one in Negishi. (I'm the one in Negishi) I also know a couple other good pet sitters here in Negishi.  If you want one of them, let me know and I'll get you connected.

Are you able to take both dogs between mid-June to Aug 1st or 2nd? Those are the dates I need and I would prefer to have them stay in one home for the entire time.

tcb-- Those dates work for me. We do have 1 Beagle, but she's great with other dogs-totally non aggressive, though her bark is really loud. I'm waiting for contact information on other pet sitters here in Negishi. I believe they both have dogs, but small ones.

I will be getting to Japan next month and I would be happy to pet sit for someone.

Considerations: I have 3 young kids, youngest is almost 18 mths. I have a 1yr old Bichon Frise that loves to play.

I'll vouch for these two doggies......they are so sweet and adorable!! If we didn't have a dog at home, I would take them in a heartbeat. They are snuggly, playful, and very well behaved. I was never a big dachshund fan before I met these two....but they've won me over. My kiddos and I love them.

Thanks for the info Softballwidow! I would love to have these two, I just didn't want it to seem like I wasn't willing to give options, especially on a board like this.
