Did anyone see the season premier of Survivor?    Got my fingers crossed for Russell this year!  He should have won the last season!

Oh YAY! someone else still watches this show! I love Russel too. Hated him the first few episodes last season, but he really is a great player, you have to love him for that. I don't know who I'm going to cheer on this year. I'm interested to see if JT turns villian. I can't wait to see how this season turns out.

How come they never have them go to Minnesota or something?  Why do they always have to go where they are forced to wear skimpy clothi... ohh.

Tirani......I've been watching since season 1. Haven't missed a season yet. I agree, I didn't care for Russell in the beginning, but his game play won me over! He truly is one of the best players I've seen in the game so far.

Doc.walsh.....what? You don't like the skimpy Survivor "buffs" that they wear?!

Do the people on base get the latest season or do they have to wait months before it airs here?

I've only missed one season- Exile Island... we had just moved overseas and I hadn't figured out what a torrent was yet    But I vaguely remember Tom and there's one chick on the Villian team I don't have any idea who she is.  I hope they change things up this season, I don't want to watch Amanda and Parvarti run the show again.  Let us see something new.  oooh, and what about Coach and Jerri?  EEEWW.  Gross!

AFN airs Survivor the day after it show in the US.  It is also on cbs.com the next day.

Wow.....I remember the day when AFN only aired shows that were a couple seasons old. Looks like things have changed for the better. Do you guys still get the same "great" AFN commercials (I say that with sarcasm!).

gaijin - Can you get it on cbs.com? I always get a message that states that the show is not available to overseas viewers from cbs.com. I can, however, get the short clips there, just not full episodes.

Cbs.com or other broadcast networks won't work unless you use a proxy (at least from an offbase ISP). We ended up getting one because for some reason, no matter what my husband does, his laptop will only browse in Japanese. We've tried everything. It also lets the kids do nick.com and disney.com and stuff in English. I'm tempted to sign up for Netflix now that we have the proxy.

    Tirani,
What do you pay for your proxy? I have been looking at them a little bit, and just curious what you are paying for yours...

I'm using foxyproxy, it's $19 for 3 months. They have a 3-day free trial. I notice a little slow down while surfing the web, but it streams from the network channels just fine- only their commericials are choppy. I keep it turned off except when I need it. It's fully integrated into Firefox. http://foxyproxy.mozdev.org/index.html

This season has been blah. I'm just not loving it. Russel is great, but he seems tame. I still love Colby but sad to see him not kick butt and be an outsider. Boston Rob is gross. The whole season has just been sort of wishy washy to me. Though last night's Tribal twist was great... Russel is a mastermind.

I just saw on MWRs page on CFAY website a whole slew of Survivors will be coming on August 26th. I'm embarrassed to admit I'm a little excited, LOL. I know one of my boys will want to go meet Russel! hahaha, he thought Russel was the best. I was surprised to see Ethan's name on the list, I guess he's beating his battle with Cancer- glad to see he's well enough to be traveling the world.

I'm also a H-U-G-E Survivor fan! & I will agree that Russells "antics" do make for GREAT tv, but to say that he is one of the, (if NOT the (as he would like you to believe) ) Greatest Survivor of All Time is debatable.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he has NEVER won Survivor, nor has he ever even won "Fan Favourite".  Which backs up my opinion that viewers may like watching him play, but do NOT respect the way that he plays.

Russells "motus operandi", is too lie, backstab, use people, & then kick them to the curb and he has proudly stated so many times.  If you were the object of that, & voted off the island as a result of him blindsiding you, I doubt that you would reward him with your vote to get a $1,000,000.  Or even the vote for Fan Favorite & let him receive $100,000.

Which IMHO is why he has not won either.

    Just my .02 cents.

Umm.....I'm pretty sure Russell DID win fan favorite, which contradicts what you say about people not respecting his game play.

Personally, I think you sometimes have to lie, backstab, and / or use people to get ahead in the game....on top of winning challenges and finding immunity idols. Some people "play nice" in the game, but those people are never the ones that "control" who stays and who goes.  They are the ones that get through the game on a whole lot a' luck.  Russell played everyone like a chess piece.  He was very good at reading people and manipulating & controlling them into doing what benefited him best in the game.  Not everyone may agree with his game play, but if it were me in the game, he definitely would get my vote in the end.

Outwit, outlast, outplay.....that's the game of survivor. The problem w/ Russell's game play was that he played w/ people that didn't like to be outwitted and outplayed. I like to call those people "sore losers."
