Differences Between Valentines Day and White Day In Japan

Most people that arrive to Japan dont know there is a difference with White Day and Valentines Day.
The difference is, you both do not exchange gifts on the same day.  Its Guys exchange one day, and Girls exchange a different day.

    They are 1 month apart!

    Below will explain the differences:

Please post any other information about these special days that I left out...  Post where you think people should take one another, and what to buy someone..

    VALENTINES DAY:  GIRL BUYS GUY
    February 14th!

    WHITE DAY:  GUY BUYS GIRL
    March 14th!
    --------------------------
In Japan, Valentine's Day is observed by females who present chocolate gifts (either store-bought or handmade), usually to a male, as an expression of love. The handmade chocolate is usually preferred by the receiver, because it is a sign that the receiving male is the girl's "only one".

On White Day, the converse happens: males who received a honmei-choco (本命チョコ?, "chocolate of love") or giri-choco (義理チョコ?, "courtesy chocolate") on Valentine's Day are expected to return the favor by giving gifts, usually more expensive.

Traditionally, popular White Day gifts are cookies, jewelry, white chocolate, white lingerie and marshmallows.

Sometimes the term sanbai gaeshi (三倍返し?, literally, "thrice the return") is used to describe the generally recited rule that the return gift should be two to three times the cost of the Valentine's gift.
    --------------------------
White Day is a holiday celebrated on March 14, one month after Valentine's Day.

In Japan this day is a widespread holiday, much like Valentine's Day. It is also observed in South Korea and Taiwan, and in Japan.

For those with Japanese girlfriends... they often buy what they need and MAKE chocolates for you on valentines. They do often put some work into it, not just purchasing it.

Its nice the Japanes tried to even things out but as you can see its the males who have to come out off the pocket...is there no justice anywere? Who ever came up with the big V day should be hung and burn at the cross for her sins against man kind...

Origin of Valentine's Day began in Ancient Rome, February 14th was a holiday to honor Juno, Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses.....

The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs named Valentine and was established by Pope Gelasius I in AD 500.

So it was a guy who came up with it, and don't be blaming chicks all the time Prime.
