I have been here again for two years now, previously I was stationed here for 18 years, in all this time I can recall there only being a few designated Motorcycle parking areas.  I have riden motorcycles here off and on the entire time I've been here and there has always been a bias against motorcycles and motorcycle riders it's seems as the mind set is 'That if we make it as hard and inconvienent as possible to own or ride a motorcycle in Japan our people won't'.  I have posed this question before, it usually gets ignored.

@elzey02 I am a bike rider here and I think it is rude for a bike of any size to take up a full parking spot. Taking up a parking spot is fine, but move to one side so that another biker can park there too...as for you not liking them being there in their small car or a motorcycle...I won't open that can of worms.

With that said, I agree with George...Ed, where is the question?

I don't understand why it's any different for a car with only a driver and no passengers to park in a parking space vs. a motorcycle to park in a parking space.

Ed, the only M/C parking I've ever seen here was in the old NEX parking lot 20+ years ago. One of my friends got a ticket from security for parking is bike in a "Master Chiefs'" parking spot! So I think, basically, it's to eliminate the confusion factor. Now. Who wants a handicapped ombudsman motorcycle reserved parking spot?

The question was and is motorcycle parking on the base why isn't there any ? And if you are able to read into the entire post, Why is there such a bais against motorcycles on this base ? Maybe I should have put question marks there to make it easier to figure out. The only designated motorcycle parking I have seen is by the Chiefs club, there was an area we were parking in in the lot next to FISC Bldg 157, but the blocks have been moved and cars are now parking there. If there is no place other than a car space to park in I will with no regrets park there, I used to be of a different mind set and would go out of my way to not take a space, but I must be getting grumpy in my old age.

By the NEX/Commissary there is some (I think) unofficial motorcycle parking. Near the crosswalk to the furniture store there is space by the bike parking where there are often motorcycles parked. In the past when I rode here I would park there.

    Ed,

This is a good one for your safety guy; he's the command rep for the traffic safety committee.

I hate seeing Motorcycles parking in regular spots. Why doesnt the base set up a special area for motorcycles only.
