I had my youngest daughter right before the evacuation, so while home we visited lots of family, i introduce my daughter to my uncle, he tells me she doesnt look japanese, HUH??? so i thought he was joking, nope turns out he thought we adopted a japanese baby because my father tells him his newest granddaughter was born in japan so therefore she is japanese...hmmmmm i'm still confussed......

My grandmother doesnt understand how Vonage works and everytime I call she yells to everyone that "Michele is calling all the way from JAAAAPPAAN!" and keeps saying over and over that she's gonna let me go so it doesnt cost too much

The biggest things I have heard so far deal with money. It seems like nobody can grasp the concept of an exchange rate or that every country has its own currency. My mom also keeps asking if we need to get new Visa check cards that can be used in Japan.

My MIL also does not understand Vonage. We are moving out of our house next week and she keeps emailing us for our thoughts on worldwide long distance plans and cannot understand why we keep saying not to get them, lol!

My cousin is coming in January to visit, she's bringing along her husband and her two kids as well. So, she's asking me the normal questions about weather and coats and layovers and etc. Then, out of nowhere, I get asked, "Do I have to wear a bra over there?"

tell her in Japan, they wear the bra outside the shirt. It'll be a kick the first time she goes offbase.

Considering my youngest daughter was born in Japan, I get asked questions like ' do that mean she's Japanese/ No she's black.
