The staff and teachers are amazing at Yokosuka Co-op Preschool.  It's an amazing program and it's a welcomed alternative for those of us who can't get into the Sure Start programs!  Thank you YCP!

I have been thinking about enrolling my daughter there next year. She will be three in July and I really want her to be in more of a learning environment than the CDC. Problem is, the Co-Op preschool only has a two day class for 3 year olds and it is only from 8:30 to 1:00 I believe. So, she would still have to be in day care after school and the entire day for the other three days. I think that may be too many changes for a three year old. I prefer more consistency.

I also researched the Hayama International School, but 350,000 Yen a semester is a bit steep to pay for a three year olds education in my opinion. Not to mention, I would still have to find day care during school off days and the summer time.

Anybody else know of any other options for a preschool aged child? I am very open to all suggestions!!

    Thanks!

    Hello,

My daughter is in the 2 day program.  There are several in her class who are picked up by CDC for the rest of the day.  They seem to be doing okay.  It might take a few weeks to adjust, but they are pretty fast adapters!  I myself cried the first week she went.  She did too.  But, the staff is incredible there and they go above and beyond to really nurture the kids as well as teach them.  My daughter has learned so much there and she has really opened up socially!  Good luck with your decision.
    Brooke

PS.  You will need to go the very first day of sign ups in the summer and wait in line very early in the morning.  I was there by 5:30 and there were 20 people in front of me already!

MY daughter also goes to the 2 day program. She absolutely loves it and they learn so much. I too wish she got to go more than 2 days a week, but I can't complain. I decided to do in home child care and go I through my certification process in the next month. I ordered tons of learning and teaching materials to help keep the kids busy while I have them here during the day. I actually have a child from my daughters class that will be joining me for childcare, so I will be taking her to and picking her up from school with my daughter. Perhaps you could look in to something similar with your daughter next year.

Thanks so much ladies for your insight. You are right Brooke, kids are very resilient and my daughter has had no problems in day care at all. Maybe because she started when she was 6 months...but when we got here, we dropped her off and she was on her way. So in thinking about it, she would probably do alright with the 2 days a week. I will give it some thought and maybe schedule a tour.

Anyone else have any thoughts of suggestions, I am still open!!!

    Thanks again!
