I've never been to a salon on base for anything, so I was wondering do they offer eyebrow waxing? If not, is it easy to find a good place in town that does?

Yokosuka's NEX Beauty Shop offers eyebrow waxing. (Not sure about others).

There are also some ladies that operate their own waxing/beauty shop businesses on-base.

In addition, there are numerous places nearby (off-base) that my lady friends and I have regularly visited for things like: hair, manis/pedis/waxing/ eyelash extensions, etc.

You will have plenty of options!! Enjoy!

I Highly recommend Sakura right outside the main gate. They advertise in the Seahawk, and will take walk-ins if there is availablity. I had my eyebrows done there a couple of months ago, and couldn't have been more pleased. #1 It DIDN"T hurt a bit! The women was so gentle, and took her time in the process. I think I was there for almost 30 minutes. I actually started dozing off towards the end. Other women had told me that it didn't hurt them either, and I didn't believe them. They speak English, and in fact everytime I go in there I only see women from base inside.

Thanks for the tip about Sakura. I've been wanting to go in there but wasn't sure about it. I've been to the base salon a few times. I've never walked out of there happy after a haircut or a wax. I guess I keep going back because it's convenient but not anymore! Thanks again!

I have to agree with Softballwidow! Sakura is awesome! Rogeis is the only person I let touch my hair anymore. His shampooing skills are the best! He appreciates healthy hair and always does a great job. I haven't yet used them for waxing; my friends have and have said good things. The NEX only offers eyebrow/face waxing, where Sakura is full service waxing! They also tend to have more time slots available than NEX and in my experience- their customer service is always excellent!

I hated eyebrow threading, that's all they did in the Middle East. Instead I got my eyebrows tatood, and let them grow to look more natural. I just do a little plucking every couple days to keep them clean. I am very excited to check out Sakura though. I've been looking for a place to do bikini waxing. I hate razors!

Why don't you save money and just pluck them out yourself or use double-sticky tape?

double sticky tape isnt strong enough..and duct tape is hard to shape..haha and eyebrow tattooing ive thought of..but when im older..i dont think my eyebrows will or should stay the same as when i was 25..eyebrows should change with age and maturity of a person..and dont they 'leak' or spread out? my aunt had her tattood and now forever has a stunned look on her face and cant reshape bc you can see the tattoo..lol sucks

So glad I found this thread! Lst time I was stationed in Yoko I used the base salon for waxing...never happy with the results at all! It's nice to know somewhere close to the base has so many positive comments! Does anyone know what the prices are like at Sakura? Just curious...I won't be back in Yoko until August, but it's always good to get an early start!

Sakura has a website with their all of their services and prices listed. I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link but if you google Sakura Salon Yokosuka you'll find all the info you need.

Iris - I wouldn't go to Sakura for nails. I just went yesterday for a mani/pedi for the first time, and was not pleased. The basic pedi was 4200yen (about $45), no foot massage at all and the chairs are not actual pedicure chairs - they are just ghetto arm chairs and you are brought a little home foot bath of extremely hot water. She hardly scrubbed my feet at all, there was no lotion etc. All in all - not worth what I paid.

The manicure was also severely lacking. I asked for a full mani with acrylics - what I got was basically just the full set of acrylics, with very sore raw cuticles and gaps under my nails. There was no nail soak before she started working on my nails, and she was very rough with the files - like I said, the skin around the base of my nail was raw, so when she used a solution to wipe the nail dust off it stung like heck. I had to repeatedly ask her to even out the edges of the nail tips, as they were at very extreme angles, and the corners were incredibly sharp. I did not feel like she was really paying attention, she seemed to be coaching another girl through doing a manicure beside her - all in japanese though, so they could have just been talking. Either way - not professional. She had to reglue a couple tips multiple times, and three of my nails still have gaps between my real nail and the tip. I paid 5000yen for this. I will *NOT* be going back there for my nails. My cuticles are still sore today

I actually go to a place in Yokohama for my hair. However, I have used the NEX for my eyebrows... I will ONLY go to AVANTE for my eyebrows.

If you have to use NEX salon I suggest AVANTE.

Though I'm not opposed to trying this salon you've mentioned.
WARNING: I will say something that offends you at some point, deal with it.
