I'll probably get boo'd, but New Moon was so much better than Twilight. I had the opportunity to see the Premiere in Tokyo before it even opened in the States. It was so much better seeing it in a Japanese theater. There were no obnoxious teens (or wives for that matter) screaming everytime Jacob took his shirt off.

I'm with you, Adam, "The Goonies" is a great movie. I used to read the "Famous Five" series by Enid Blyton when I was a kid. "The Goonies" is nothing more than a big screen adaptation of the "Famous Five".

Recently, I enjoyed re-watching "Almost famous" and "L.A. Confidential".

These 3 have to be the best movies I have seen this year without a doubt!

Also saw Eagle Eye, Cloverfield, The Happening, 21 and they were all really good (oh and both the Narnia movies, but this is a childhood fave of mine anyway!)....

My fave movie though has to be Black Hawk Down!

The second movie for Twilight was so much better than the first, Adam. I'm wondering what the third will be like with a new director. Again.

I saw "Avatar" today, much better than I figured. I MUST see this is in 3D.

"Up In The Air" was also a lot better than I thought it would be. And "The Lovely Bones"! So good.

For "Older" movies that came out this last year I'd recommend "District 9", "Whip It" and "Zombieland". All great movies even if you don't like those kind of "genres". I waited on all of them because I was pessimistic but in the end I was pleasantly surprised.

My wife and I just watched "The Lovely Bones", I was actually impressed. The movie held my attention even though the subject matter seemed kind of iffy to me at first. I recommend it. Avatar was good but like Elizabeth said and everyone I talked to it needs to be seen in 3D to really appreciate it. I'll have to see it in 3D later. Sherlock Holmes was ok but not what I was expecting.

I liked this movie a lot. I didnt even know it was based on a true story until the end of the movie.. I never saw the preview, before going to see it, I just saw the movie starting at 8:30pm on Friday at Benny Decker and went to see it..

EDITED: I just removed the video that auto-played..  To watch the preview, go to the link below.

Sherlock Holmes. It was niiiiiiiiice. Ahhh, memories of Robert Downey Jr. with his shirt off.... *ahem* okay, back to reality...

I just cannot bring myself to see that Twilight movie. I played more x rated plots with my Barbies, and seriously, when that vampire glitters in the first movie? So glitter is scary? Sherlock Holmes ... drool. Actually, I was surprised it was a Guy Ritchie movie, because it was good. Twilight was hilarious and I really hope New Moon is, too, because the book was also unintentionally funny.

I loved Avatar, and Sherlock Holmes. Those are probably the only recent movies I've seen.
Goonies was one of my all time faves...along with the Dark Crystal when I was a kid. Although, when I tried to watch the dark crystal as an adult, I had a hard time staying awake. Not sure it was the movie though.
I really want to see the blind side, but I think it will make me cry.

I really want to see Alice in Wonderland, but I'd need to take the kids and I'm not sure it's okay for them. They're afraid of Labyrinth, for crying out loud.

There's nothing else that's kid-friendly that wouldn't make me want to stab myself in the eyes with a straw, so we're just kind of avoiding the theater until summer, I guess.

We just watched Surrogates and Gamer recently. They're kinda similar in ways but very different, Gamer of course is very explicit, heh heh. They both turned out better than I thought, def recommend them.

And all you Modern Warfare players, Gamer is totally for you.

Alice in Wonderland was amazing... if you saw it in 3D. Like Avatar, I could see where it falls a bit flat without the technology.

    But, with it...WOW!

@Adina, what age kids? I was gonna say Alice is ok for kids, but I just remembered that a mouse plucked out the eyeball of a monster with a needle, and another monster got his head chopped off. Oh, and Alice had to traipse across a moat using dead, floating heads as stepping stones. But other than that, it's pretty much ok for kids. Oh, and Alice drinks the blood of a dead animal. hmmm, I guess not so G-rated the more I think about it. :-P

Adina, I think your girls would love How to Train Your Dragon. They were showing it today, but I didn't know until a few minutes ago, so I have to wait until Monday. -.-

And really, I don't remember the drinking blood part... O_o But it was a good movie otherwise, and as always, going to be a little dark for a Tim Burton movie. DUR!

It's crap they aren't really playing Alice! They played it the first weekend it was out, now it's only every once in a while, 8:30 on weeknights mostly... how am I supposed to take my kids to see it? We couldn't it make it last Sunday, and it's not playing over the next couple weekends. I hope they keep it a while and people have more chances to see it at kid friendly times.

Just got back from the states recently and saw "How to Train Your Dragon" in IMAX 3D. It was quite excellent! The picture was so clear it was shocking. Just wasn't used to that kind of quality.

Know what I really like? That our teeny tiny widdle movie theater still manages to SHOCK me with the brand-new blockbusters sometimes. I really like that, it's not a slam on the theater folks!

It's really fun when the summer blockbusters start arriving next month. I don't know how they get them, but for some movies they open HERE at the same time as the US (in some instances, like the Star Wars one in 2005, it opened here 11 hours before it opened in the US. SUPER COOL!)

I just watched The Cove (winner, best documentary 2009 Academy Awards), that's the latest movie I've seen. One word, one syllable: YIKES. Great movie, pretty powerful movie. The kind you need to watch and then go to a burger milkshake joint to talk and debate. And I like how they got MORE Mission:Impossible than the movie-version of Mission:Impossible.

And the film isn't a slam against Japan (I thought it would be). It's not at all.
