you might as well walk around with a t-shirt that says "HELP ME CHEAT ON MY HUSBAND WHILE HE'S OUT KEEPING US SAFE!"
Warning: Eventually, I WILL say something that offends you. This is perfectly normal. My recommendation: get over it.

Yo Keith - I was about to write the same thing. Why would this lady put something out like this on a military base? What if your husband see this?

I would hope she didn't mean it that way...just trying to find a lighter side. But I agree...it sounds like an open invitation.

It IS supposed to be funny. Just telling the world that we are holding out while our husbands are protecting our nation's freedom. What is it with people trying to say that we as wives are going to cheat on our husbands the second he is away???

And btw, my husband AND his mother think that it's hilarious..

It's basically saying we are going without while our husbands are away, but that they've been away for too long! It's just a joke... -.- Thanks for ruining it..

haha wow this was the dumb idea of the week. The reason people think this is watch how much the bar's fill up with american woman a week or two aft the gw leaves, you see them coming home at 5am from ikego all the time. You should have thought this through. Well said Keith.

Geez...could you guys give her a break already? First off, she's a NEW navy spouse. Secondly, she doesn't live here to know the type of people (women AND men) that cruise the Honch (much less knows what the Honch is) when the ships leave. What is with everyone today?

I guess they really torched your ass, huh, Amber T? I didn't really see the problem in your post. The fact of the matter is most of the cheating is probably done by the person on the ship while deployed- not at home. However, the fact remains the Hounch probably does shift in gender status upon the GW's departure. Poor massagie girls

I like the Hounch Crawer blog idea. Perhaps back in the day it would have been called "Sprool Ave." blog. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Wow! This is not very encouraging to new people, is it?

My husband and I are moving to Atsugi in April and I was wondering why he is so adamant about trying to find housing offbase because of 'the navy wives.' I guess his buddies have had some horror stories, but I'm an optimist and I like to make friends so here I am. Anyway, I can see why people would react strongly to the group. It's the title that does sound a bit offensive, although I believe that the intent is more chaste than what the title seem to strongly suggest.

Coincidentatlly, I created another group on Facebook primarily for wives whose husbands are stationed in Atsugi. The intent of it is to meet up with other women to make the transition of moving to a new place AND a new culture. I, myself, am a new Navy wife and have lots to learn.

Aloha to everyone! Let's make friends, shall we?

See, I don't really get the hostility about the group name. One would assume, if one actually understands the English language, that a person who is sexually deprived isn't getting any on the side.

ETA : After 11+ years in this life, I personally know only one wife who screwed around on her deployed husband, but I know several sailors who have cheated on their wives while deployed. I don't think it's fair to paint all Navy wives with such an ugly brush.

Hey amber, I got the point of your joke from the git go; sorry you met so much negativity here. But yes, there is some sensitivity to the loyalty of Navy spouses when the ship is away. Warranted or otherwise, but people do react to it. So, have you been able to hook up with other Navy wives since you got here?

I see the humor in amber's page...I am one of those that are deprived myself...I have been married almost 11yrs and not once have I done it...who the heck has time with 3 kids and a house to run? I know I don't...
There are some honest wives in the military...I hear so many stories from husband about his other ship....most every man his knows has done it...and he can't understand it for the life of him....

I'm sure I'll hear about this one from the experienced folks here but oh well here goes.

I can understand the facebook group/joke Amber was going for...

What I don't understand why people can't be a little more sensitive to different types of humor...

I myself have joked around with friends about missing my husband and swearing the next time I see him I'll super glue myself to his leg.

    (I know I know military property...laws... bleh... I can miss the man I married can't i? )

But for all of you assuming the worst in people like that... ... Gosh I just didn't know what to think.

YEah the group name probably could have been called something a little different and maybe like one of the quotes could have been what the name is now?? *Shrugs hopelessly*

I'm new to this Navy Wife thing too... and really didn't appreciate reading poor amber's forum demise to bored forum trolls...

(Spend as much time on these forums and know as much as you all think you do about others, well, it makes you at least in the gamer world... a troll)

And its true, to burn someone for an honest mistake does kinda make it so at least THIS new comer almost didn't post...

But I'm feeling a bit better since reading that there really are some nicer people on these forums... and now won't be so afraid to ask questions.

lol... in other matters, Is there a Yokosuka Spouse Facebook group yet??

If so I'd like linkage pretty please.

I'm flying in on the 29th of Sept and would like to meet some people to help my adjustment to Japan life, easier.

Hope you liked the rant as much as i loved typing it...

I'm not sure about FaceBook but there is a Meet-up group. They go out occasionally for lunches in different parts of the town, and there is a forum for topics and introduction. A good way to meet people and just get out. They also have a FB page for it (but it's a meet-up group).
