    Hi all,

    I need to get an evening dress altered. We live near Yokosuka base and all the tailors I can seem to find specialize in uniforms and don't really do dresses.

    Has anyone found and used a tailor to alter a dress?

    Ngoc, how much do you usually charge for pant leg hemming? Also, what is the average cost for formal dress alterations? I have a dress that needs to be brought in at LEAST 1 size...possibly 2, and I'm sure it will cost quite a bit, but I'm just trying to get an idea. Thanks!

    The tailor shop inside the main exchange over by the mens t-shirts does, I went for a consult but it was rather pricey it all depends on what you need done I ended up having my MIL do it when she came for a visit. Hope this helps

    I just dropped my dress off with her today. She was very nice, and I can't believe the alteration is going to only be $10.00. I wish I had known about her a long time ago.

    I stopped by Ngoc Tailor Shop tonight.  She did a fantastic job with my hemming on some suit pants.  I definitely recommend people to use her.  She did a great job.  I took some pictures of her, and her shop below.

    She also sells custom dresses.  You can see some of them below.  She will be donating some at our EVENT PARTY on March 19th..  Wahhooo..  They arent CHEAP EITHER!!  Good luck to the winners..

    Adam, this is exactly what I was looking for. I need some measurements for ME ME ME and I'm going to stop by and see if I can steal her tape measure for a second or two Getting married in June and I need to send back for the tux.

    How amazing is this? I was LITERALLY thinking about this five minutes ago before I logged onto Japanbases. This would be creepy if it wasn't so darned helpful!!!! Thank you

    She's a good cook! She gave me some Chicken wings with awesome home made Blue Cheese when I picked up my dress. She put them in Styrofoam to go container. Talk about a full service tailor! I might have to rip something of mine, just so I can go back. lol

I've sent many people to her and they like what she has to show and do for ya. (I've known her since back in the states). Anyway, she's made stuff for me, my kids, herself and many others. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

    She's been doing lots of alterations too for the Navy Ball. Whatever your sewing needs... Like I said, PM me or I'll tell her to get on her and shoot you a PM.

    SOOOOOOO sad that Ngoc has left!! She was awesome!! Trying out the NEX tailor, but they seem expensive. Hopefully they do as good work as Ngoc did ( Idoubt it though).. Anyone know of any other private tailors locally?

    I do some sewing myself! I will say Ngoc work is impressive, and in comparison to her I feel I do not meet her skill! I do teach basic sewing, have private lessons and groups for those interested in taking the skill further!
