Hello Ikego, I am Ikego's AOIC and I just found out about this forum.

I've set up a profile here and will be scrolling through the forums combing for questions that maybe I can help out with.

We have been stretching our social media limbs and are trying to stay current with technology and reach out to people who either live in Ikego or are prospective residents.

We have a facebook page as well as a twitter that details current information and events.

I just wanted to take some time to introduce myself and establish a presence here on JB.

I hope I'll be able to help in the future.

Like I said before, I'll be combing the forum looking at ways I can help and we will definitely integrate this site into our usual routine.

I've also taken this opportunity to upload a survey if there are any current residents who are interested in providing feedback.

I look forward to providing any assistance should anybody need it and an ear for anybody who has some feedback.

I need to know POSITIVE THINGS about Ikego Housing!

Ok, I probably know all the NEGATIVE things already, but we recieved an offer in Ikego today while we were at AOB. I REALLY wanted to be on the main base, but the APRIL wait time (hasn't been updated online yet. We went into housing today and looked in their housing info book) for a 4bdrm is now 3 months, which means we run into TLA issues if we decide to wait out for a house, but then again, we are #2 on the list.

So what I need is for you guys to attempt to CONVINCE ME that if I take the offer I'll be making a good choice...but I must warn you, it won't be easy..

Also if you have nothing postive to say, would love to hear you oppinions on how I could find a way to stick it out until we can get a house on Yokosuka!

Need a babysitter in Ikego Base?

My name is Cassie Quezada, I am a 19 year old College student. I have been babysitting since I was 12 and I love kids! I am currently studying to become a first grade teacher, and I have taught in classes throughout High School. I have been babysitter trained and by Jan 23rd 2010 I will be CPR&First Aid trained.

Ever think about going away on a romantic getaway or maybe a weekend with your friends or just to dinner and a movie without your kiddos? Well you can trust me, your kids will be in great hands! I have my license including my Japanese license, plus a great car.

Memorandum For Parents of Bus Riding DoDDS Students

MEMORANDUM FOR PARENTS OF BUS RIDING DoDDS STUDENTS

SUBJECT: Lost or Misplaced School Bus Pass Policy

1. Students who do not have a current school year bus pass are not authorized to ride DODEA School Buses. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure students have a valid school bus pass in their possession in order to ride the school bus.

2. The Complex Transportation Office (CTO) responsible for school bus transportation will make exceptions for students who lose or misplace their bus passes. Students must follow instructions below in order to ride the school bus.

3. No school bus pass in the morning on the way to school:

a. Student must sign the “Bus Pass Report Log” kept on the bus.

b. Student must legibly print and sign their name. c. After arriving at school contact parents to make arrangements for trip home.

4. No school buses pass in the afternoon on the way home. If student’s parent has not contacted the CTO:

a. Get one of the school staff members on duty at the loading zone to sign you on the bus.

b. Student must sign the “Bus Pass Report Log” kept on the bus.

5. CTO will be provided an Incident Report after the student has had three consecutive days signing on the bus. CTO will notify parent that the student does not have a valid bus pass in his possession and will not longer be allowed to sign-on the bus until the student presents a valid bus pass.

6. Continued failure to present a valid bus pass may result in bus riding privileges being suspended for a period of time.

7. If you have any questions, please contact the undersigned at DSN 243-9566.

Ikego vs Yokosuka towers

Question.....If given the choice to live in a 3 bedroom tower apt in Ikego or a 3 bedroom tower apt based in Yokosuka which would you choose? Factoring only the quality of the apt, tower, noise, etc. Please do not factor in the amenities at the bases, etc..simply the apt itself. Appreciate the help! Also if anyone has any pictures of a 3 bedroom Yokosuka tower apt or Ikego tower apt I would love to see them. I can send you my e-mail if anyone has some. Thanks!

Ikego Campgrounds returning to Japanese? (rumor check)

So I heard from a friend, who heard from a friend, who heard from who knows where that the Navy was returning the Ikego West Campgrounds to the Japanese.

Any confirmation on that or is it just a crazy rumor?

it is much better than Yokosuka's . if you live in Zushi , must see it !

Anyone have any knowledge of Cosmos International School in Zushi?

I've been looking at preschools/kindergartens in the area and haven't found much that I'm happy with (I'm fussy, I'm a teacher myself). I came across an English speaking school called Cosmos in Zushi, but haven't ever heard of it when reading the discussion boards etc. Does anyone know anything about this school?

Do the housing units on Ikego (both the townhouses & towers) have those metal "pull-across" shutters to pull in front of windows, in order to protect all the glass from breakage??? We're used to those from all the hurricanes in Florida.... I remember seeing that on one of the videos I watched from DutyInJapan - but I can't remember WHICH base I was watching (as we've looked at all the bases in Japan)...! LOL

Confused about Ikego balconies...

Ok.... so after much research, I am totally confused. Under CFAY's website, the Ikego 3BDR Tower floor plan only shows one balcony per apt. However, when I finally found the pdf file showing all the dimentions for the Ikego 3BDR Towers - they showed TWO balconies (the main one off the dining area, but then another one off the Master BDR - just like the Yokosuka towers). And then I read a post where someone was saying you could access the stairs from the Master BDR balcony in Ikego Towers.

So - who is right? 1 balcony or 2??? I can't tell from the pictures. Thanks for all your help!

Ikego Climate Control

I've read many posts that verify Ikego doesn't have control over their own AC/heater units. So who does make all the decisions? What happens if the AC is too cold for you....? Can you turn the blower off, or are you stuck with the temp that's been set up? What about if it's inbetween season - chilly in the morning (where you'd like some heat, but can you?) but then gets hot in the afternoon (is AC an option or has it already been disconnected until summer)???

Sorry to be so full of questions - just trying to understand how the process works!
